Vincent House is a community-based program of Van Gogh’s Palette, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the recovery of persons living with mental illnesses. Originally a grassroots effort, Vincent House was founded by two parents, Elliott and Dianne Steele, who witnessed a daughter’s struggle with a mental illness.

Vincent House offers a Recovery through Work Partnership approach, which focuses on wellness and the innate potential of each individual. Vincent House provides a comprehensive social and vocational rehabilitation for adults living with mental illness through involvement in meaningful work, relationships and gainful employment. Vincent House operates a state-of-the art facility and serves individuals living throughout Pinellas County.

JOB SUMMARY

The Rehabilitation/Graphic Arts Specialist is responsible for the engagement of members – individuals with mental illness participating in the Recovery through Work program at Vincent House – in all aspects of Vincent House operations. In collaboration with other staff and members, the Rehabilitation/Graphic Arts Specialist is responsible for assisting members with their participation in meaningful work and relationships, as well as development and attainment of vocational, educational, housing and social goals. Additionally, this position assumes responsibility for operating a newly implemented Graphic Design Department. Specific duties include:

· Develops pre-vocational work opportunities that are consistent with the needs of persons with mental illnesses, thereby engaging members in specific tasks.

· Facilitates a vibrant and participatory work day within their assigned team area.

· Provides training for members in Adobe InDesign CS6 software.

· Plans, coordinates and completes graphic arts/media projects in partnership with Vincent House members and staff.

· Provides job training, on-the-job performance monitoring and absentee coverage in community-based employment positions.

· Facilitates fun and safe evening, weekend and holiday events on a rotating basis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social work/rehabilitation/ psychology or arts/graphic design.

· Proficient with IMAC platform and graphic design software including Photoshop and Illustrator.

· Possess excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, creativity and belief in wellness and the potential of every member.

· Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and be a team player.

· Possess a valid driver’s license and obtain approval for enrollment by Vincent House automobile insurance carrier.

· Ability to pass a criminal background and drug screening.

· Be a non-smoker.

· Possess the stamina and ability to cover community-based employment placements.

· Willingness to sign the Confidentiality and Non-disclosure Agreement and Affidavit of Non-Abuse.

· Willingness to submit to a drug screen upon hiring and random drug and tobacco testing while employed.
