Construction Completed!

Vincent House now has a new, 7,681 square feet, state-of-the-art facility. The "Expansion of Hope" is  bringing new opportunities to our members:

· An expanded Bank and a remodeled Business Unit.

· An expanded Member Services Unit.

· An expanded dining room that can accommodate all of us sitting together.

· A brand new commercial kitchen, complete with a full stove, deep fryers and a commercial walk-in cooler.  No more doing everything in roasters!

Vincent House has come a long way since our humble beginnings in a  storefront at Buccaneer Plaza. Here’s to a new start with our new addition!

Capital Campaign

Faced with a shortage of space and a huge waiting list of people eager for the rehabilitation services offered by Vincent House, we decided to build an "Expansion of Hope".  Despite a national and statewide recession, on July 16, 2009 we set our capital campaign goal at 1 Million dollars.  Thanks to the donations of our friends, families, foundations, and the Pinellas County Community Development, we reached our goal. 

We are proud to be mortgage free and debt free!

Vincent House hosted 15th International Seminar

Vincent House was chosen as the host for the 15th International Clubhouse Seminar, which is sponsored by the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD).  We had 750 participants from 23 different countries.  The International Seminar was held at the Tradewinds Island Resort from October 24-29, 2009.

Groundbreaking a Huge Success

     Up Close with Cathy Unruh features extraordinary individuals and topics that have made an impact on the West Central Florida community. Each half-hour program highlights personalities and topics with both broad and local appeal.  Past episodes have explored issues such as healthcare, animal rights, adoption and mental illness, as well as spotlighting local arts and culture efforts.  Vincent House was featured on the June 2009 episode.

BREAKFAST OF HOPE

Vincent House holds annual fundraiser

Hope was the theme for this pivotal event.  It is the lifeblood of Vincent House.  The Breakfast of Hope was a tremendous success:  we promoted interest in the local community, stoked enthusiasm for mental health consumers and encouraged financial contributions.  We give our sincerest thanks to all who made the Breakfast of Hope such a success.

St. Petersburg Times

Our local newspaper, The St. Petersburg Times, recently published a letter from our Executive Director, Elliott Steele.  This letter responded to an implication that the proposed $3.2 Million Budget Request to fund 11 new ICCD Clubhouses in the state of Florida was "pork".  Given current fiscal constraints, the Florida Legislature is looking to reduce spending by cutting the pork from the budget.  ICCD Clubhouses return people with disabilities to paid employment and reduce homelessness, hospitalizations and incarcerations; rehabilitation programs such as Vincent House save taxpayer money and are anything but pork.  Read on to find out why!
